Not sure if anyone is in Atlanta for the Superbowl, or maybe you're in #Atlanta and looking for a new space for spiritual growth/community. Either way, consider yourself invited to Vinings Lake Church over in Mableton tomorrow morning. We've hosted Science Mike, Pete Enns, August Channing Brown, Jonathan Merritt, and a bunch of others. It's a pretty cool space. And if you come, make sure to say hi to me. I'll be playing the djembe on stage. 😊
Best thing about this #TheLiturgists community/collective/family:
Maybe we all have learned to live by an updated version of the 3 R’s.
1) Respect for self
2) Respect for others
3) Responsibility when we fail at #1 or #2
Any other current/former worship musicians still playing in church? It’s a far out trip, right? It’s not so bad until sermon time. I can interpret a lot of the song lyrics in a way that I can still feel good singing along. But when the preaching starts.. that’s when it gets awkward for me. #worshipmusician
Our souls & minds are starving for deep, rich, open, authentic, stimulating, meaningful, intellectual, spiritual conversations; yet we often choose to remain in silence. This community has allowed the breaking of silence. So grateful for it & all of you in this collective/family! 🖤✌🏽❤️ #TheLiturgists
I heard of Gungor because of the song Beautiful Things, but besides that one song, I was not a “Gungor fan”. It wasn’t until the OWL trilogy that I became a fan. Now OWL is played every week. I think I’ve listened to Vapor a thousand times. And I wish “I Am” was still on Spotify because that was another song I felt strongly drawn to and became a meditation for me. Thank you @vishnu for that ❤️
Here we go then. These are the 5 books selected for the first #TheLiturgistsBookClub
All About Love by Bell Hooks
New Seeds of Contemplation by Thomas Merton
The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard
Everything Belongs by Richard Rohr
Hildegard of Bingen: Selections From Her Writings
Please reply to this toot indicating which book you would like us to read. The book with the most mentions will be selected for reading and discussion. I will stop counting mentions in a couple of days.
Any other Litugists on here from the crazy state of Florida ? #rollcall

For my #Enneagram9’s out there.

#SummaryHaiku The Bible:
Man made to create
Creates Hell wants rule through death
Shown death does not rule
A handful of the many books that have greatly influenced me:
The Courage to Be by Paul Tillich
Grist for the Mill by Ram Dass
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
What We Talk About When We Talk About God by Rob Bell
The Idolatry of God by Peter Rollins
As I move through my days on the path of love and I witness my inner dialog, my actions, and my reactions, may this question move with me in my awareness: " Are my thoughts, behaviors, and feelings being driven by fear?" I pray this inquiry will provoke my inner guru. Call it the Helper, the Self, the Spirit, that which brings to my remembrance there is no fear in love.
