It’s okay to be at a place of struggle. Struggle is just another word for growth. Everyone finds themselves in a place of struggle now & then. In fact, struggle is a sure sign of expansion; it’s actually an indication of real & important progress. The only one who doesn’t struggle is the one who doesn’t grow. So if you are struggling right now, see it as a sign - celebrate your struggle. 🖤✌🏽❤️

@Archerra we go to an ELCA Lutheran Church and are very happy there. But we also enjoy hymns and liturgy and sweet organ solos so that makes it a good fit. More importantly, I find comfort in ritual, Doing and Being church rather than merely assenting to doctrine. You can't control what you believe on a given day, but you can always come to the Table

In and out are constructs of shame and fear used to keep people under authoritarian structures of churches.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

I think “Us For Them” should be the anthem for the church. This song has meant so much to me in redeeming the true love of Christ for the world. Rather than the exclusionary message of the evangelical church.

Mastodon is great for many reasons, but my favorite thing so far is I don't have to worry about my mom tagging me in a highly conservative or super sappy facebook post.

I never liked the term deconstruction.

At the Nashville gathering I learned 3 terms that made sense of my journey of faith better than deconstruction.

Orientation - what I believed
Disorientation - experiences where my beliefs are in question/flux
Reorientation - my changed beliefs

Some people go from disorientation to orientation, returning to the beliefs they held before those times of flux. Others go to reorientation, trying to integrate their new experiences into a new framework.

You know what I’m saying? In my “first half of life Christianity” (as Richard Rohr puts it in “Falling Upward”) I would just have been so devastated that God has left me stranded. I would feel abandoned, I would feel like I needed to atone for some sin, or say some right incantation of words to ‘get God to heal me.’ I now know much more about my own body & brain, and the way I look at God is so very different. Because of this, I’m able to walk in gratitude for my time here, instead of shame.
