I'm trying to read a Richard Rohr book, but I can't get past how he continues to use the term "ego" in a negative manner. If we rid ourselves of "ego", arent we just left with "id" and "superego"? Surely ego is as much a part of us as anything else.

Self-care is hardly ever bubble baths and almost always doing the exact opposite of what you want to do.

He: how have you been doing? Me: I don't know.
He: why not?
Me: it's a big question.
How have I been when?
And if that involves more than a single moment, how do I destille several experiences to one answer?
Also, as an autistic, half of the time it's hard to know how I'm doing NOW, it gets only more confusing when it's in the past.
I realise you just asked a polite small-talk question, but it's early, my social masking isn't functioning yet.

I'm dipping my toe into all this enneagram stuff. I'm not sold on it, but reading around and doing some tests, I'm settling on 6w5.

Being a big fan of "The Prisoner" (filmed in Portmerion near me) part of me wants to shout "I AM NOT A NUMBER"!

@mike listening to your podcast on your ASD diagnosis. I don't know you and hadn't heard of you before I picked up your book this morning and put it down this afternoon (after reading it). One of my immediate thoughts was "I wonder if this guy's autistic?". I was diagnosed on the spectrum October 2017 at the age of 36. I was horrified by the expense as my diagnosis was free within the NHS, as was all my post diagnostic support both in and out of work. It's been a big journey.

Hi all.. Now I know liturgists isn't primarily about a social media abstinence programme, but that seems to be a hot topic. So, short of persuading everyone to use this platform, does anyone know how I can stay involved in a couple of groups whilst ditching the rest?

Hi all. Discovered this through @mike fb placeholder. Discovered @mike through his book which I started and finished today (I've sent your publicist an email to say thanks).
I love the ethos of this site. A friend made this short film about the impact of social media on mental health. Im in it for about 3/4 of a second. It's worth a watch, despite me. m.youtube.com/watch?v=nyso1Ij0
