Pinned toot

I am a wife and a mom. I am a life long UMCer but I’m feeling a little unmoored. I am a Development Editor/writer of children’s Sunday school for the United Methodist Publishing House. I love my job! I love inviting children to discover the Bible as theologians and fully loved humans rather than through indoctrination and shame.

United Methodist, Future of the church, LGBTQIA

My questions for you all are these: What do you hope for? What are your concerns about either of those options? What are the essentials for you in determining whether or not to stay connected? What are you willing to compromise on for the sake of unity? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this as well, @mike

United Methodist, Future of the church, LGBTQIA

I am attending a gathering of progressive to centrist UMC leaders in Kansas in a few weeks. There will be 10 people from each US conference attending. There will be lots of prayer, conversation, and strategizing of a way forward. The two options at this point are: 1. Stay and resist harder, stronger , more visibly, and more adamantly 2. Work to amicably split from the WCA/Good News/Etc. groups and create a new inclusive Methodism.

I have such a tough time with labels right now. Sometimes just feel like saying I’m a Liturgist...of the Jesus loving Methodist persuasion. I wonder if that is how the earlier Wesley and Luther followers felt about one another. There is no intention of creating a denomination of a religion or of following any one or few leaders. I just feel like with you all I am among my people in a way that isn’t always true with others.

@Julie Hi Julie. What a lovely heart you have even asking a question like that. I have two thoughts for you:
1. All you can do is follow your own path. There will always be people that have more and less than you. Always people better off and worse off in every single way. Your choices are embracing this moment for what it is or fighting it with futility and suffering.
2. You cant know the full inner life/subjective experience for anyone other than you, and assuming so doesn’t help anyone. 🙏🏽❤️

My 11 year old daughter tonight...in the voice of a redneck country character she has been trying on: Happens to the best of us. And by the best of us I mean me.😂😂

UMC (Methodist) insider - Feb anxiety

@EmilyDelikat Huntsville, at Trinity. My best friends are an Elder & the youth pastor, so. I mean. They have it way worse. But still.

UMC. LGBTQ inclusion. Special General Conference.

Several of us in are/were members of the UMC family. A big thing is happening this month. The Special General Conference could end in many different ways. It will surely be uncomfortable for all, and downright painful for many. I want to start a # for us to be able to discuss our thoughts & feelings and to support & even pray for one another. To join us, use & follow . Use a CW bc this can be triggering for some.

You might find the UMC a good fit. There’s quite a range theologically, but its usually pretty easy to find a progressive affirming congregation.

The video quality gets better after the first bit. My 11 year old was recording 🙂

Sang this song in church this morning. It's amazing to me how this song that I have been familiar with since 2000, well before my deconstruction, means so much more to me now. It also means a lot to my in light of the current issues in the UMC. youtu.be/bhq330zDmJE

For friends who are deconstructing within a church community and sometimes look for kids and worship resources...I wrote a thing cokesbury.com/product/97815018+
