Just a reminder to all the Michigan Liturgists that we do a meetup the 4th Saturday of each month! Sometimes we even do additional meetups, like the one we'll be doing in Lansing on Monday. Please mark your calendars and send me a DM if you're planning on joining & I'll share the specifics! :D
If any Michiganders are interested in joining a group of Liturgists to the July 27 Tabs & Wafers in Chicago, let me know ASAP because we're working on figuring out carpooling and booking an AirBnb together!
@vishnu I'm feeling a sense of love and happy tears as I finished your book just now. Our life experiences have been fairly different, but I've been finding myself in a similar growing awareness, and I felt a bit like I was reading my own thoughts as they unfold (in a manner of speaking, I was 😊). Thank you very much for sharing it - it's enormously beautiful.
We have a shared love for Ram Dass and Alan Watts, and I'm grateful for the paradigm and consciousness shift they guided me in.
Person 1: We should have some kind of insurance to lift the financial burden of medical expenses.
Person 2: Yeah, that could be really good for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities who don't make a lot of money because they can't perform full time jobs.
Person 1: No.
Person 2: What.
Person 1: This is only for full time workers.
Person 2: But that -
Person 1: *puts finger on person 2's lips* shhhhhh. Don't think about it.
The latest episode of Throughline on white nationalism (it's actually sharing an episode of It's Been a Minute) does a decent job of examining the role of white supremacy in American history and how it's not an anomaly but rather a rooted tradition that even Hitler wanted to emulate. It also points out how our current administration's take on immigration is a continuation of that tradition.
As a black, Malawian woman who has been a foreigner in all the places I have lived in for the past 8 years, articulating who god is in response to my existence and the particularity of my identity has been necessary for my survival and that of my relationship with the divine.
I love Mastodon but have to admit that the FB format is way easier for organizing meet-ups, so join if you can! And if you're wanting to join but don't have FB, let me know and I'll make sure to keep you in the loop on any upcoming get-togethers!
