The main reason that I've backed away from facebook is that I have witnessed --in real time-- myself and co-workers becoming radicalized. Me to the left and them to the right.

The problem is that they are still descending in far right conservatism/alt-rightism and they no longer have a counter-argument at the same level.

Once you see the truth it is hard not to scream about it to anyone that will listen to you. Unfortunately, truth is something that needs to be experienced to be believed.

This is why when you try and argue about a topic with someone they are more likely to become even more stubborn in their viewpoint through the discussion rather than eventually see things your way.
