history of racism conversation with conservative family member.
I am sure that I will need more to get through this, and I have a good deal of information, just wondering if there is more that I can say. Thank you!
Racism and history discussions with conservative family members.
So, has anyone else on here ever had the talk successfully with a family member about how just because we had the civil war does not mean that racism and the evil of slavery are behind us? Asking for specific resources and good articles! Thanks!
We have started down this trail saying that it was all in the long past with all of the perpetrators long dead. Which I countered with segregation not being more than 50 years ago.
One of the main reasons that I love this platform! Wish it could become more mainstream use.

ASM recent episode, RHE grief
@mike I want to thank you for the RHE memorial episode. I just got up the nerve to listen today. Thank you, thank you for sharing your stories. They helped me enormously, more than I thought they would.
I agree about Evolving Faith 2018 BTW. Most powerful faith event I've ever attended.
Peace today 💚
"Imagine if every church became a place where everyone is safe, but no one is comfortable. Imagine if every church became a place where we told one another the truth. We might just create sanctuary." -- #RHE
This is a fascinating article about the Exodus (or lack thereof) from an archaeological perspective. Here's the lede:
"The Passover narrative is one of the greatest stories ever told. More than any other biblical account, the escape of the enslaved Hebrews from Egypt is the foundational story of the Jewish faith and identity, one that all Jews are commanded to pass on from generation to generation.
Also, it never happened."
US Politics - asylum seekers
With Trump “threatening” to send asylum seekers to sanctuary cities, my hope is those cities get in front of it. Put ads in newspapers welcoming the newcomers. Hold parades for them. Put banners up telling them they are safe and welcome here. Tell Trump that having these folks come is a blessing, not a curse. And my prayer is that mainline and progressive churches take a leading role in this.
Thinking tonight about how vitally important religion is for so many people in this world. All of the great traditions have sheltered so many hurting and afraid people for thousands of years. This is worth remembering when we feel the (rightful) need to tear it down or take it apart in pursuit of truth, beauty, and love.
