.@brandice I can definitely relate to parts of your story. I too attended a strangely beautiful, unusually gracious community of faith, and after 10 years of leading, our pastor resigned and as a church we voted to disband. We didn’t think we could find another pastor to deal kindly with our crew of sceptics 😂 But our family has moved into a house church model now and finding it a soft place to land. It’s difficult to feel unmoored.
@Julie That's almost exactly what happened with us! We were like a family for about 16 years, but our pastor needed to focus on his own family before his kids started heading off to college, and none of us felt up to the task of keeping it going without them. We were non-denominational and had a loose definition of what constituted a "pastor" and we ordained him ourselves, so we could have done that again, but we decided it was time to say goodbye. It wouldn't have been the same without them.
