I feel like the liturgists will enjoy this one.

How Long 'til Black Future Month? by N.K. Jemison is onsale as an ebook for $4.99 today.

N.K. Jemison is an amazing author, and this is her most recent release-a collection of short stories inspired by her realization that poc seem to be missing from sci fi, wondering if poc have a place in dreams of the future.

Activism is science fiction-it forces us to imagine a future better than our present.

@Kara thanks for this reccomendation! i LOVED her Broken Earth series and i am listening to The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms literally right now.

@riayngrey She's so good!

I confess I haven't actually read Broken Earth yet, even though it's her most popular. The Fifth Season is sitting on my shelf taunting me right now, but I'm saving it for a time I can really sink into a fantasy world without a lot of interruption.

@Kara that’s fair. i read the whole trilogy twice and i will read it again. it’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready :)

@riayngrey @Kara I’m not much of a fantasy/sci-fi reader but I wanted to be intentional to read books by women and poc, and the Broken Earth trilogy was amazing.

@Kara Are you familiar with Walidah Imarisha and her radical sci fi project Octavia's Brood?

@outdorable I’ve seen it, and I’ve heard great things, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet!
