LGBTQ, Christian

I’m an LGBTQ affirming Christian.

Just wanted to say it again “out loud.” Thanks!

Be humble because you are made of the mud; be noble because you are made of the stars.

When things are hectic, it's okay to say no or tell someone to ask you again later.

My god is decolonial. My god stands with the oppressed and advocates for the downtrodden. My god sits with the impoverished. My god is a vast and glorious embodiment of love in its most radical forms- intimate with pain and antithetical to hatred.

Just pre-ordered Richard Rohr's "The Universal Christ". I've only read a few snippets of the book so far from Fr. Richard's daily meditations, and I can already tell it's going to be a mind-blowing read. Seriously can not wait for it to arrive!

Seriously though, as much as I like the Enneagram discussions and such.. One of the reasons that I also like the Liturgists podcast is the light heartedness that sometimes exists between @mike and @vishnu. I mean, I identify with what they both tend to laugh at.. and usually laugh along with them. Is there anyone else who has gone through deconstruction, but feels a bit like they came out on the other side, a much more light-hearted, (and honest) version of themselves??

I’m 10x more active on Mastodon than FB or Twitter. This community already feels like home. I’ve seen and been in many threads with very few disagreements, but the ones I have experienced have been graceful and understanding with a willingness to see from the others point of view.

Maybe it’s because it’s smaller. Maybe it’s because of the people. Maybe it’s because it’s new. Maybe it’s all of the above. But I feel welcome.

And I love it. I love it so much.

Thank you @mike

I believe the fact that there aren’t more clergy members who are publicly open and affirming of LGBTQI people is more of a financial problem than a theological one. Here are a few pictures of my soon-to-be-14-year-old cat, Angel. She's a character and a half, and she even plays D&D. Love my little furry goofball.

Remember what Fr Rohr said....

“There is nothing to prove and nothing to protect. I am who I am and it's enough.”

Have a blessed day y'all.

Affirmations for anxiety

I am safe.
I am loved & cared for.
Nothing I do or say can change the fact that I am inherently worthy of love.
I can lovingly accept what I am feeling without it controlling me.
I will be gentle with myself when I am feeling overwhelmed.
I am alive, breathing, and grounded to the present.
I am strong, brave, and resilient.
This feeling is not forever—it will pass.

The mystics of all traditions do us a great service by reminding us that the divine infinitely transcends the words and symbols we use to describe it. A religious belief or doctrine or ritual is true only insofar as it points beyond itself.
