Rebuilding my

I spent 20yrs in an evangelical church which started off all exciting, but over time slowly killed me.

15 yrs ago I started writing & became a published author. As I immersed myself into that world & researched myths & legends, I began deconstructing.

My novel Parables was the result of those 2 worlds colliding & it seeks to reclaim the importance of imagination & story telling in faith.

I have been reading parables by sapphira olsen. I especially enjoyed the parable of the wolf and the lamb. I really struggle with not hating and being able to forgive the people of chardon.

I was a founding member of my New Frontiers local church.

I will have to live with that for the rest of my life.

I wish I had not been part of setting up and leading an environment full of... Transphobia
Control
Delusion
Men only elders
Dogmatic driven lifestyles
Performance Culture
Anti LGBT lifestyle
Encouraging people to give 10% of their income to pay staff salaries

I just started reading the book Parables by @SapphiraOlson, and I only just finished parable 4, but each one has given narrative to experiences I have had being in the church. I just wanted to say thanks for my free copy and recommend it to everyone!

Some days I get it together & write articles, poetry & novels.

But some days I am filled with sorrow for those I love still within the machine.
I want to send in the helicopters to rescue her.

Art is not about theological indoctrination. It is not a didactic process where inventiveness and imaginative formation are pulled up as if they were weeds choking a spiritual life.

Instead of a tribal adherence to behavioral conformities and ideologies, it reveals the heartbeat of others that transcends the thin veneer of our senses and rational constructs.

Watched Netflix's Behind The Curve last week about Flat Earthers. So many parallels with church where people form a community around an understanding of the world built up with cognitive biases & Dunning–Kruger effects ramped up to ridiculous levels where people actually believe absolutely ridiculous things and become anti science and lose all touch with reality.

Back on here after freaking out a few weeks ago after someone (not a liturgist) had a right go at me and I deleted all my social media accounts, cried and ate icecream for 2 weeks - slight overaction on my behalf.

The Liturgists

This is an instance for folks who follow The Liturgists Podcast, The Alien & The Robot, and other things The Liturgists create.
