Pinned toot

Just celebrated my 30th anniversary to my fabulous husband. Two kids - 15 yo son and 18 yo daughter. Have been home with my kids since the 18 yo arrived on the scene. Been homeschooling for the last 7 years of that. Right in the middle of my and feel like there are SO many books and SO many podcasts and I'm never going to get to them all!

My 18 yo daughter has been very stressed to the point of being suicidal this month. My 15 yo son (birthday this weekend) just told me he thinks he's trans. I don't really have a problem with it, but I know that there is going to be a lot of stress/turmoil because of it. I just feel like I'm at the end of my capabilities to function as a parent. I haven't been on here much, but I need to talk somewhere.

Does anyone have a meditation podcast they recommend? I enjoy the ones The Liturgists put out, just want more. The apps like Insight Timer overwhelm me.

I don’t know who I am. And I don’t know how to figure it out.

A dear friend and fellow has moved to specifically Park Ridge area. Knowing only a couple of people in the area and being fiercely independent is resulting in them dealing with some loneliness. Any suggestions on places to go things to do or must sees in this area on a missionary’s budget that would get her out of her apartment and engaging with others?

I'm going to ask this question the way my 9 brain wants to - do we like Eckhart Tolle?

That moment when your 15 year old son accidentally sends you a text with the f-bomb in it and you can't stop laughing!

@mike If you have any book recommendations, I would love it

Does anyone have any resources - books/websites/etc. to help me explore how to help a college aged ASD child? We've never had her diagnosed, but sometimes looking at things through that lens has helped me. Would love a cross between enneagram and ASD - but I'm guessing I'm out of luck there! Hard to find even a book on parenting with the enneagram much less adding in ASD. Any suggestions?

I see sunshine and a great forecast. If you have the same, find some time to be outside today! (Here in Atlanta - we need it!)

My husband and I survived our daughter's first "late night" Uber experience.

Is anyone else going to see Gungor in Columbus tomorrow?

I've been asking myself a new question each morning (well, this is my second day!). What does self-care look like today? Apparently yesterday the answer was to act like a sloth! But sometimes that really is the answer! Today looks a little different.

@Rachel @JeanetteJohnson @brandice My daughter had her competition today and had so much fun! She and her partner were both very happy with how they did - total success! Thank you to all of you for helping me help her this past week.

Patting myself on the back for figuring out how to get TAATR in my podcast player. Thanks @mike for sending out that email!

If there are any 1s who can give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it!

I don't know if anyone can - but I need some help.
The short version - I'm a 9 - I like everything to just be ok. My daughter is a 1 - and she's very hard on herself. She is very stressed over a competition this weekend that she feels she has to do well in, even though she is very new to the sport. She's going to be calling me in a little while - how do I help her? Seriously, what can I say to her as a 1 that will actually help? I can elaborate if needed, but this is the bare bones.

Every once in a while I scan through the Federated timeline. Always blows my mind and I head back here pretty quickly!

This week is going to wear me out. My daughter has her first official ballroom competition this Saturday and she’s stressed. Second night in a row she has needed me to stay up late. I’m sleepy!
