Pinned toot

Born in 1980, I relate with parts of the Gen X and Millenial crowds, but don’t fully feel at home in either.

Pastor’s kid.

I’ve been deconstructing my faith since I first read Brian McLaren’s books in the early 2000s.

The reconstruction is taking a long time, but lately I’ve been finding the most life and truth in some Buddhist concepts like dukkha (suffering) and annica (impermanence), Richard Rohr’s teaching and books, Same Harris’s podcast, and Jesus.

Seems like this really died down, huh? Not much activity... Everyone realized Twitter was better, or just got bored, or what?

I'm speaking for myself as well, I haven't even opened this app in forever.

I came back to it after reading the news yesterday about Twitter's Bluesky effort, which sounds exactly like Mastodon.

@Travis Still a materialist. Still a mystic. Still can't resolve the two.

Wow, and it's the third result when I Google my full name now... This is definitely not what I thought was going to happen with this.

Does this bother anyone else?

One thing I just noticed is that my profile is visible without needing to login to Mastodon. I had assumed you would need to login first even if your toots are public.

Is that what everyone else is seeing?

I'm not sure if I care or not, it's just not what I thought so I figured I would mention it.

Hopefully all you have seen this. Probably a goo didea to disable FaceTime for a little while while they work on a security patch.

Any fans on here? I'm betting there's some, and if not, there will be once you all start watching. haha

It's pretty difficult to describe...

Because this is , this instance will include LGBTQ people AND people trying to work through their theology around marriage. Our server will include people of color AND people who are just starting to confront white supremacy. This split will apply as well to feminism, womanism, ableism, etc.

I like that. I want it to be a good thing. Here's how we can do that:

Shout out to everyone sitting at right now even though they're feeling super conflicted and unsure if they want to stay or run.

Also I’m a pretty big fan, I used to play/record but don’t find as much fulfillment in it as much lately and I’m trying to be OK with that.

Music I’m digging right now:
- New American Football: youtu.be/CaZUVZ2F_Dc
- This new Lauv track is 🔥: youtu.be/fvjpE_wFL5A
- The 1975 (everything)

Oh, and SciFi. Reading, watching, etc. My favorites are BSG, The Matrix (yes, ALL 3), The Expanse, Interstellar, Kim Stanley Robinson, to name a few off the top of my head
