Yeah. I really appreciated his description of ceremony as an alter from which an alternative way flows out and into other areas of life.

Frankly, it redeems the whole concept of alter and provides a framework for unmaking my rigid Evangelical attitude toward idol worship. What was taught to me as worship of false gods now has a new life-giving light, and I understand now why Eastern cultures have household alters.
