ET302 crash, racism
Important to think about which tragedies we “care” about, and why: “Racist myths challenge the basic tenets of human compassion, even and especially in death. If black people are innately violent, if Africans live on an inherently backwards continent with fundamentally shoddy airlines, then their deaths are not tragedies. They are eventualities. They are facts, not stories.”
This is Jinx. She's only been with us for 2.5 weeks, and already she's changed our lives for the better. #petsofliturgists
Okay, so I just figured out that #petsofliturgists is a thing. So you all should meet Mabel. You will be seeing lots of her in the feed because she's the cutest.
My mom has surgery this week so sleeping at her house. This is her cat, but she is my current roommate, so that qualifies right? #petsofliturgists
Looking for good documentaries! Any suggestions?
I facilitate a docu-discussion evening for people in my church. We watch a documentary and then discuss.
- Looking for docs that help us see the world in new ways
- social issues
- Preferably not “Christian” docs but I’m open. If it’s like the Liturgists it’s all good.
- The church group is open and not much would be out of bounds.
This is a great read on the persistence of colonialist idealism and Western entitlement.
Trying to do my little bit of good where I am.
