Remember what Fr Rohr said....

“There is nothing to prove and nothing to protect. I am who I am and it's enough.”

Have a blessed day y'all.

Pinned toot

I am a 45 year old former pastor that lives just north of Austin. My day job is as a Program Manager for a large Technology company based in Round Rock...but my passion is creating community and conversations around the topic of empathy.

I am working on a Podcast (because they are NOT going out of style!) called Empathy and... where I will talk about the science and spirituality of empathy and how we can use it to enhance and deepen our relationships.

The podcast will be launching mid/late Feb

Haven't been on very much lately...put my head down and finished up some content for the podcast. Finally!!

Y'all can check it out here. The website has a blog post of my story, at least a little bit of it, and the intro episode through Anchor.

Other Podcast services should be picking it up as well if you're already dedicated to another application!

@audreyassad I am about to launch a podcast on empathy. Talking about the brain science of attachment, and the intrinsic need for connection. In one of my episodes I actually spend some time unpacking vulnerability and Toxic Masculinity.

Listening to that podcast today was so affirming and a nice bit of synchronicity. Thank you for being so open and loving and honest.

You have a new fan....not only because of your gorgeous music, but for your beautiful heart.

Blessings from Austin!

@audreyassad ok, wow. Just need to drop you a note here. Full disclosure, I really only knew you by name until this week. Had not listened to your music. Since then I have Evergreen on a loop....just gorgeous. But that's not really why I'm at you. I was just cleaning the kitchen, as is my weekend ritual, and listened to your conversation with Jonathan Martin for his podcast. I am absolutely blown away. 1/2

Just saw the Buddhist Part 1 episode just pop up in my podbean feed. Be back in about 2 hrs. 😜 😮

@vishnu I listened to the 3rd episode of This yesterday. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So insightful.

The I is a part of the We, but Me can be so much more. Or less. But whatever it is, it only exists in this moment.

Have a blessed day y'all.

Is there a way to look at larger stats related both to Mastodon and to our instance, in particular? Trending hashtags, active users, complete list of all existing instances, sorting amongst particular variables, etc? I'm just curious about the larger picture...

I am constantly on the lookout for scholarly work/research on deconstruction related topics. Specifically in the psychology/neuropsychology fields. I thought this short article was interesting.

Opinions and comments if you have them! Would you consider deconstruction an "awakening" of sorts? If so, do you think abandoning spiritual practices initially is expected...or have you replaced one spirituality with another?

SO, I'm a pastor--it feels weird to say in this space. and also, I have tattoos, a nose ring, am in an interracial marriage & band, am & consider it part of my job to tear down & in the church. podcast has accompanied me through seminary to present--keeping me honest in my own & focused on constantly moving myself, my music, and God outside of the box💕

I'm seeing that the mobile flexibility for Mastodon might be limited? I'm wondering if that is a good thing. I feel like the move towards this platform might just be a slow boil towards minimizing my time in front of a screen.

....says the guy that makes a living by working on a computer and is launching a website/podcast.
